Sichuan Province Boosts Holiday Tourism Through Integrated Culture, Sports & Events
Sichuan Province experienced a surge in tourism during the recent National Day holiday, driven by a strategy of deeply integrating culture, sports, and tourism to create renewed consumption formats. On the first day of the holiday, A-level scenic spots across the province welcomed 4.9992 million tourists.
Numerous high-profile events were held throughout the province, capitalizing on the “Traveling to Sichuan with the event” initiative. In Guang’an, the Sichuan Super Carnival Activity “Super Fun” launched, featuring creative check-in points linked to the Sichuan Super League and ten key scenic areas, including Deng Xiaoping’s hometown tourist area and Huaying Mountain tourist area. A signature wall was also created for visitors to leave blessings. The “Sichuan Super League” match between Dazhou and chengdu drew nearly 10,000 fans to Dazhou.
Suining hosted ten key cultural and tourism activities, including the “Hong Kong Hardcover Star Football Competition,” the ”Chinese comics Trend Immersive Carnival,” and the “Suining Fujiang Cup Esports Competition.”
Localities also focused on creating diverse cultural experiences centered around the National day theme. The Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area hosted a chorus of “Chinese and Foreign Singing, Family and Country Songs” featuring ten thousand participants. Emei Mountain introduced an innovative drone flag-raising activity at jinding. Ganzi Prefecture celebrated the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a cultural and artistic performance, alongside a “Ten thousand People Appreciate the Moon and praise the Mid-Autumn Festival” event.
Nanchong showcased a special exhibition of “Hundred Cities and hundred Arts” featuring Sichuan North Lantern Opera. Deyang launched the “Pretty to the Confucian Temple and the Comfort deyang” theme event, incorporating a drone light show, classic Sichuan opera performances, and a parent-child rainbow run around Jinxi Lake, attracting over 20,000 attendees.
To enhance the visitor experiance, local authorities strengthened market service guarantees. Xichang city implemented a policy allowing citizens aged 65 and above nationwide to ride buses for free by swiping their ID cards, connecting attractions, health facilities, and commercial areas. Meishan coordinated with multiple departments to establish civilized tourism volunteer service points and introduced convenience measures like food buses and Dongpo tourist buses.
