A person was injured Friday morning after gunfire struck a Mandalay bay resort on the las Vegas Strip, prompting a police examination.
The shooting occurred at 10:07 a.m. at the Mandalay Bay property located at 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Police responding to the scene found at least two windows on the west side of the W Las Vegas tower, adjacent to Mandalay Bay, had been hit by gunfire.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department,the gunfire is believed to have originated from a location west of the Mandalay Bay property.
“It is indeed believed at this time that the shooting occurred off the Mandalay Bay property from an unknown location to the west,” said Metro officer Robert Wicks.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Authorities stated the injuries were caused by broken glass resulting from the shooting.
cory Neal,36,of Sacramento,was visiting Las Vegas with his sister adn a friend when they noticed the damage. “I’m a little shocked, a little scared,” Neal said. “I’m curious as to why that happened.”
Kaela Neal, 23, said the incident left her feeling unsafe. “It does,” she said. “I kind of think we should talk to the staff. I don’t see any cops or anything like that.”
The Neals were in town to attend the Chris Brown concert at Allegiant Stadium and were walking toward the venue when they observed the broken windows.
