Ohtani, Soto Headline 2025 Silver Slugger Award Winners
LOS ANGELES – Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers has secured his third silver Slugger Award, surpassing Ichiro Suzuki as the Japanese player with the most of the prestigious awards in major League Baseball history. The awards, recognizing the best offensive performers at each position in both the American and National Leagues, were announced November 6, 2025.
Established in 1980, the Silver Slugger Awards are voted on by managers and coaches, honoring outstanding offensive production at each defensive position – including three outfielders and one utility player.
Ohtani, who previously won the award twice with the Los Angeles Angels and once with the Dodgers in 2024, finished the 2025 season with a .310 batting average, 54 home runs, 130 RBIs, 134 runs scored, and 59 stolen bases, posting a 1.036 OPS. His 54 home runs broke the Dodgers’ franchise record and cemented his status as a rare power-speed threat reminiscent of Babe Ruth.
Juan Soto, now playing for the New York Mets, extended his remarkable streak, winning his sixth consecutive Silver slugger Award – as an outfielder. He also became one of only two players in MLB history to win the award with three different teams. Pete Alonso and jorge Soto of the Mets also earned Silver Slugger honors as a first baseman and designated hitter, respectively.
Other 2025 Silver Slugger Award recipients include: Manny Machado (San Diego Padres, third baseman – his third career award), Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo, and Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks), Hunter Goodman (Colorado Rockies, catcher), Kyle Tucker (Chicago cubs, outfielder), and Alec Burleson (St. Louis Cardinals, utility player).
