Shin Tae-yong Relieved of Duties as Ulsan HD Coach
Ulsan HD has parted ways with head coach Shin Tae-yong following a disappointing run of results, the club announced Thursday afternoon (October 9, 2025 WIB). the decision was accompanied by the resignation of Club Director Kim Gwang-kook, both taking responsibility for the team’s underperformance.
The move comes as a notable blow for the defending K League champions, who currently sit 10th in the standings with 37 points from 32 matches-nearly 30 points behind league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai. Shin Tae-yong, who took the helm in August after a stint with the Indonesian national team, managed only two wins in 10 matches, alongside four draws and four defeats, including a heavy 0-4 loss to Gimcheon Sangmu last weekend. This coaching change underscores the high expectations placed on Ulsan HD and the pressure to regain championship form.
Ulsan has appointed Ulsan Youth Team Director Noh sang-rae as interim coach while searching for a permanent replacement. “Under the guidance of interim manager Noh Sang-rae, an experienced coach in the K League, we will communicate and collaborate to escape the relegation zone.In addition, we will also look for a replacement,” a club statement read.
Ulsan’s next match is scheduled for October 18 against Gwangju.
