Tinley Park, Ill. – A widespread police search is underway in Tinley park and surrounding communities Monday morning for five suspects believed to be armed, authorities reported. One suspect is currently in custody.
The manhunt, a joint effort between Tinley Park and Matteson police departments, began following a vehicle crash at the intersection of Harlem avenue and vollmer Road. The suspects fled the scene on foot heading westbound, prompting a shelter-in-place order for residents in the immediate vicinity of Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road in Frankfort Square. The Will County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to remain indoors with locked doors while the inquiry continues.
Police initiated the search after receiving reports of individuals wearing black clothing. Details remain limited as the investigation unfolds, but authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.Will County spokesperson Kevin Hedemark is providing updates as they become available.
