A woman in her 20s has died and a man is seriously injured following a shark attack at Crowdy Bay National Park on the east coast of Australia. Emergency services responded to reports of the attack at approximately 6:30 am local time on Saturday, finding two individuals who had been attacked by a shark.
The woman died at the scene, while the man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Witnesses provided assistance to the pair before paramedics arrived. Police are working with experts to identify the species of shark involved and have closed the beach to swimmers.
This incident marks the latest in a series of shark encounters along Australia’s coastline, raising concerns for beachgoers and prompting increased vigilance. Crowdy Bay National Park is a popular destination for beach camping and fishing. In September, a man in his 50s was fatally mauled by a shark off Long Reef Beach near Sydney, highlighting the potential dangers present in these waters.
