Jena, Germany – A bicycle donation tour across Central Germany will stop in Jena on Friday, September 12th, to raise awareness of sepsis, a life-threatening condition that remains widely misunderstood. The “Sepsis Tour 2025,” organized by the “Germany recognizes sepsis” initiative in support of German Sepsis-Hilfe eV, aims to educate the public on early sepsis recognition, as rapid diagnosis considerably improves treatment outcomes.
According to the “Germany recognizes sepsis” initiative, over 230,000 people in Germany fall ill with sepsis annually, and at least 85,000 die – making it one of the leading causes of death in the country.
The Jena stop will feature an details session with the cycling team at Teichgraben, located at the corner of Nun Plan, beginning at 2 p.m. Local initiatives and research institutions, including the Center for Sepsis and Infection Research at the Uniklinikum Jena, the German Quality Alliance Sepsis, and the ZIK Septomics, are collaborating on the event and broader awareness efforts throughout Sepsis Awareness Month in September.
