Seogwipo New Year Concert: Music & Music Hope Concert 2024

A free concert featuring a range of musical genres will be held at the Seogwipo Arts Center Small Theater on February 27th, beginning at 6:30 PM. The “Music & Music New Year’s Hope Concert” is intended to share hope and emotion with the citizens of Seogwipo as they commence the new year.

The performance will be open to the public on a first-arrive, first-served basis, according to promotional materials. Musicians from the Music & Music Vocal Academy, along with local singers specializing in minyo (Korean folk songs), gagok (Korean art songs) and pop music, will participate.

Special guest performers include Lee Chan (“Well-off Woman”), Park Woo-cheol (“Yearning”), Lee Myung-joo (“Love Song”), and Park Il-nam (“Reed’s Affection”). The concert will begin with a performance by Lee Chan, followed by songs from Choi Hee-soo, Byeon Chang-se, and Lee Maria. Duets are also planned, featuring Choi Hee-soo and Lee Maria, as well as Byeon Chang-se and Cho Seung-hoon.

The program also includes performances by farmer-singer Hye-ri, Jeong Ok-bae, and Oh Yeon-gyeong, and a minyo medley featuring “O-dong-dong Taryeong” and “Kkot Taryeong.”

The concert is one of several events planned for the Seogwipo Arts Center in 2025. In January, a New Year’s concert featuring soprano Jo Su-mi and the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra was held. In February, the 9th Jeju International Choir Festival will take place at the Arts Center from February 24th to 27th.
