50 Cent’s Diddy Docuseries, “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” to Premiere December 2 on Netflix
A new four-part docuseries examining the life and career of Sean “Diddy” Combs, executive produced by 50 Cent and directed by Alexandria Stapleton, will launch on Netflix December 2. Titled Sean combs: the reckoning, the series arrives amid ongoing legal challenges for the music mogul, including a prison sentence and multiple investigations.
The documentary will feature new interviews with individuals “formerly in his orbit,” offering an inside outlook on Combs’ rise and recent controversies. According to 50 Cent, the project is a result of individuals trusting the filmmakers with their stories. “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen,” he said in a Netflix interview.
Stapleton views the series as a broader commentary on celebrity culture. “This isn’t just about the story of Sean combs…Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal,” she explained. “I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”
The announcement comes as Combs is serving a more than four-year prison sentence for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He is also facing numerous civil lawsuits and a recent investigation by the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department regarding new allegations of sexual battery.
