Basket Pegli Claims National 3×3 Under-16 Championship Title
Riccione, Italy – August 3, 2025 – Basket Pegli’s Under-16 women’s team secured the Italian 3×3 Championship title this weekend at the national finals held in Riccione.The team defeated all opponents leading up to the final match, were they were narrowly beaten by the FVG (Friuli Venezia Giulia) regional team.

The men’s team, representing Seagulls Sestri Ponente, also achieved success, winning their final against a strong opponent wiht a decisive 21-11 victory. Key players for the Seagulls included Nicolò cogorno, Eddy Spallarossa, Diego Zilioli, and Simone De Brandi. Spallarossa was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament for his outstanding performance.
This victory marks a meaningful achievement for the Basket Pegli and Seagulls Sestri Ponente youth programs, evoking memories of the amerson Athletic Genova team’s success in the men’s A1 league during the 1977-78 season. The current success is seen as a potential foundation for future growth and a resurgence of competitive basketball in the Genoa region.
The 3×3 format, gaining increasing popularity worldwide and set to be featured in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, provides a fast-paced and exciting platform for young players to develop their skills.
