Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy Headline Return of Golf Channel Games

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will return as team captains for the second playing of the Optum Golf Channel Games, a made-for-TV exhibition scheduled for December 16, 2026, at Trump National Golf Club Jupiter in Florida.

Scheffler and McIlroy Lead Four Player Squads

The rapid-fire team competition pits two squads of four players against each other in primetime, airing on Golf Channel and USA Network starting at 7 p.m. Scheffler’s squad features rookie phenom Jackson Koivun, Chris Gotterup, and Michael Brennan. McIlroy’s team includes Matt Fitzpatrick, Si Woo Kim, and Haotong Li, with Li standing as the lone returner outside of the two team captains from the inaugural event, golfweek.usatoday.com reported.

The competition utilizes a running clock and a series of timed challenges. Returning formats like the “Team Relay” and “14-Club Challenge” will appear alongside new, yet-to-be-announced games for the 2026 competitors, golfweek.usatoday.com noted. Tom Knapp, Golf Channel executive vice president and general manager, said in a release that the inaugural event proved unique formatting under a running clock produces an energy that does not normally appear in standard tour golf.

Fall Exhibition Schedule and Alternative Formats

The Optum Golf Channel Games anchors a slate of made-for-TV exhibitions hosted during the fall schedule. Another returning event, The Farmers Insurance Skins Game, is scheduled for Friday, November 27, 2026, at 9 a.m.

Broadcast teams and further roster details for the upcoming December competition will be announced in the coming weeks, according to golfweek.usatoday.com.
