SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon and pioneering chassis designer Giampaolo Dallara will be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame on May 21, 2026, the IMS Museum announced Tuesday.
The pair were selected by a national panel comprised of over 150 journalists, drivers, industry experts, historians, and current Hall of Fame members, marking their first appearance on the ballot. The induction ceremony will be held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis.
Dixon, a New Zealand native, currently drives for Chip Ganassi Racing and is the first active full-time driver to receive the honor. He boasts 59 career victories, second only to A.J. Foyt’s 67, and six IndyCar Series championships, one shy of Foyt’s record. He secured a victory in 2025, extending his streak to 21 consecutive seasons with at least one win. Dixon claimed victory in the 2008 Indianapolis 500 and has earned five pole positions for the race, second only to Rick Mears’ six.
“It is a huge honor to be inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame,” Dixon said in a statement. “It’s such a historic venue in motorsports and means so much to me, having raced here for so many years now. Honestly, it feels a little surreal as I’m still focused on winning here in May. It’s the competition that drives me, even in year 25 with Chip Ganassi Racing. The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest sporting event in the world, and another win here would be incredible, so that’s the goal for 2026.”
Giampaolo Dallara founded Dallara Automobili da Competizione in 1972, following an engineering career that included roles at Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Williams De Tomaso. The company began producing IndyCars in 1997 and has served as the sole chassis supplier for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES since 2008. Dallara expanded its U.S. Presence in 2012 with the opening of the Dallara Experience Hub in Speedway, Indiana, where chassis are produced and assembled for various racing series.
“Being inducted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame is truly an honor,” Dallara said. “The Indianapolis 500 has inspired me since the incredibly beginning of my career, and our journey in the United States has been built on passion, innovation and extraordinary people. I am grateful to the teams, drivers, and partners who have trusted our work for so many years. This recognition belongs to all of them as much as it does to me.”
Tickets for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner are available at imsmuseum.org. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
