SCO Tianjin Summit: China & Indonesia Relations Strengthen

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets ​with Indonesian Counterpart⁣ in Tianjin

TIANJIN – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi⁢ held a meeting with Indonesian​ Foreign ⁣Minister Sugiono ⁤in Tianjin on September⁣ 1st, according to ⁣ Xinhua News Agency.

Minister Sugiono is in China ⁤representing Indonesian⁢ President Prabowo ⁤Subianto at the Shanghai Cooperation Institution (SCO) Summit 2025 preparations⁢ and commemorative events ‌marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against ⁢Japanese Aggression and the World​ Anti-Fascist ‍War.⁣ President Subianto’s planned visit to China ‌was ⁢adjusted due to recent domestic priorities,⁢ as stated by‍ officials.

during ⁤the⁢ meeting, ‌Minister Sugiono emphasized Indonesia‘s commitment to ​strengthening its relationship ⁣with China and ⁢expressed⁤ his wishes for ​the⁤ success ⁢of the upcoming events. He further assured‌ Minister Wang⁣ that the‍ Indonesian government would prioritize the safety and security of Chinese personnel and ​institutions within Indonesia.

Wang‌ Yi, who‌ also serves as ​a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist‌ Party of China central Committee, welcomed Minister ⁣Sugiono’s presence as President Prabowo’s representative. He acknowledged and respected the Indonesian government’s decision to adjust its schedule based on ​domestic⁣ needs.

Minister Wang ​also conveyed his hope that Indonesia would continue to⁤ safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and ⁢interests of Chinese citizens and organizations operating⁢ within ‍its borders, ‌according to the⁤ official Xinhua‌ report.
