Savannah Guthrie Shares Message as Search Continues for Missing Mother Nancy Guthrie
Savannah Guthrie shared a message of faith on Instagram Saturday, posting a religious image with the words “I believe, I believe,” as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues into its seventh week.
The post, which quickly drew an outpouring of support and prayers from followers, comes as authorities continue to investigate the disappearance of the 84-year-aged mother of the “TODAY” co-host. Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Tucson, Arizona, home on the night of January 31st and reported missing on February 1st.
Numerous social media users responded to Guthrie’s post with messages of hope and support. “We are still praying,” one user wrote. Others offered prayers for the family and for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return, with one commenter stating, “Thinking of your mom everyday. Praying everyday that tomorrow morning I’ll wake up to news that your Mom has been found.”
The Guthrie family released a statement on Saturday, following a segment about the case that aired on KVOA News 4 Tucson. The family expressed gratitude to the Tucson community for its support and asked residents to review any camera footage or memories that might assist in the investigation. “It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant,” the family said, adding, “No detail is too small. It may be the key.”
Investigators suspect Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home in the middle of the night. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been sifting through over 40,000 leads in the case. The FBI released images and video footage of a potential suspect, described as a male between 5ft 9in and 5ft 10in, wearing a mask and backpack, appearing to tamper with a security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home. The suspect was also seen wearing clothes believed to have been purchased at a Walmart store.
On February 11th, authorities detained a person for questioning in connection with the case, but that individual was later released. A search of a property in Rio Rico, Arizona, was also conducted as part of the investigation.
The FBI has asked anyone with information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
