Saskatchewan to Continue Offering Free COVID-19 Vaccines This Fall
Saskatchewan residents will continue to have access to free COVID-19 vaccines this fall, as the shots remain fully funded by the province.
The ministry of Health confirmed Thursday that COVID-19 vaccines are considered part of Saskatchewan’s publicly funded immunization program. “Saskatchewan residents who have a valid Saskatchewan health card are eligible to receive a publicly funded COVID-19 vaccine,” stated Dale Hunter, Senior Media Relations Consultant with the Ministry of Health.
The fall immunization campaign is scheduled to begin in early October.
This decision differentiates Saskatchewan from other provinces like alberta adn Quebec, which are implementing costs for many residents. Alberta will charge a $100 administration fee to those not meeting specific eligibility criteria, while Quebec will require most individuals to pay between $150 and $180 per dose.
The province emphasizes its commitment to vaccine accessibility for all residents, irrespective of age or health status. Public health officials continue to recommend COVID-19 boosters, especially for seniors and those with compromised immune systems.
For now, residents can expect the same vaccination process as in previous years. Details regarding clinic locations and booking procedures will be released closer to the program’s launch.
