Lebanese School Project Highlights Water Management Solutions ⁣at São Paulo Architecture⁤ Biennale

SÃO PAULO – A project from a Lebanese school is among the⁤ exhibits at the São Paulo International Architecture Biennale,⁤ showcasing water management ⁣techniques mirroring ‌those implemented in Brazil, according to Biennale curator Renato Anelli. The Biennale, running until October 19,focuses on climate ⁢challenges, with⁤ water – both scarcity ‍and excess – as a central⁤ theme.

The exhibition highlights initiatives rehabilitating environments through water ‌use, often employing linear ⁤parks as‍ a solution. “What we observed…is ⁤that several other countries ⁢are working⁣ on techniques ‌similar ‌to those used in Brazil, and it was a pleasant surprise for us to see the⁢ work from the Lebanese school applying principles similar to what we’ve been implementing here,”‍ Anelli told ANBA. He ⁤noted the international concern surrounding water and its relationship with ‌vegetated⁤ banks.

Beyond water, the⁤ Biennale ⁣addresses rising temperatures with exhibits like panels displaying‌ “warming stripes” illustrating increasing⁤ temperatures in ‌Brazilian cities including Recife, Porto Alegre, Cuiabá, Contagem,⁢ and Guarulhos.

The ‌Biennale is organized around five thematic axes: preserving forests and reforesting cities; living‍ with water; renovating more and building ‍green; moving ⁣and accessing together with ⁤renewable energy; and ensuring climate ‍justice and social housing. It⁣ features models, conceptual⁢ projects,‍ and explanatory displays.⁢ Admission is free. More data is available at https://bienaldearquitetura.org.br/.
