San Diego International Film Festival Announces 2023 Lineup, Spotlights ‘Rental Family,’ ‘Hamnet,’ ‘After the Hunt‘
SAN DIEGO, CA – The San diego International Film Festival (SDIFF) has unveiled its 2023 lineup, featuring a diverse selection of international and domestic films, including highly anticipated titles like “rental Family,” “Hamnet,” and “after the Hunt.” The festival, running September 28 – october 1, will showcase cinematic storytelling, creativity, and human connection across a range of genres, from thought-provoking documentaries to award-winning shorts.
This year’s festival holds particular importance as Variety joins as the official media partner for the Night of the Stars Tribute, presenting the Gregory Peck award for Excellence in Cinema. The SDIFF aims to be more than just a film festival, serving as a cultural experience that fosters global dialog and reflects the local San Diego community.

Beyond the headlining films, the festival’s robust lineup includes “100 Liters of Gold” (Teemu Nikki), “Case 137” (Dominik Moll), “Hello Mother” (Byambasuren Ganbat), “Lost in Territories” (Nadav Shlomo Giladi), “Magic Hour” (Jacqueline Christy), “Obraz” (Nikola vukčević), “sunphlowers” (Dave Byrne), and “The Party’s Over” (Antony Cordier) in the Gala and Narrative Competition.
Documentary screenings will feature “A Quiet Love” (Garry Keane), “Lights, camera, Friendship on the spectrum – amelia Island” (Joey Travolta), and “Ugo: An Artist at War” (Steve Nemsick).
