San Antonio Convenience Store Clerk Hospitalized After Confrontation with Beer Thief
SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 32-year-old convenience store clerk is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a harrowing incident Saturday night on the East side of san Antonio. The clerk was attempting too prevent a theft when the suspect fled with him clinging to the hood of his vehicle.
Police responded to a call around 11 p.m. at a convenience store located in the 1200 block of Rigsby Avenue. Officers arrived to find the store open but unoccupied. Shortly after, dispatch received reports of a man on the hood of a vehicle driving erratically in the vicinity.
Responding officers quickly located the injured clerk nearby. He was instantly transported to a local hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigators determined that a suspect entered the convenience store and stole beer. When the clerk attempted to intervene and stop the theft, the suspect drove away with the clerk holding onto the hood of the car. The clerk was thrown from the vehicle a short distance from the store.
The san Antonio Police Department is actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspect. Further details will be released as they become available.
