Minnesota United loans Midfielder Samuel Shashoua to Birmingham Legion FC
Minnesota United FC has announced that midfielder Samuel Shashoua has been loaned to Birmingham Legion FC for the remainder of the 2025 season. The agreement includes a recall option for Minnesota United at any point during the loan period.
Khaled El-Ahmad, Minnesota United’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director, stated that the loan is intended to provide Shashoua with consistent playing time to further develop his skills in a supportive environment under the guidance of Mark Briggs.Shashoua expressed his enthusiasm for the loan opportunity, emphasizing his desire for regular game time. He plans to closely follow the Minnesota United (Loons) games and looks forward to returning as a more accomplished player.
Shashoua joined Minnesota United in July 2024. During his time with the MNUFC First Team, he made 10 appearances across all competitions, accumulating 229 minutes.He also played for MNUFC2, the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, where he scored one goal in two appearances early in the 2025 campaign and recorded two goals in three matches during the 2024 season.
Before his move to Minnesota, Shashoua played professionally in Spain for albacete Balompié, CD tenerife, and Atlético Baleares. He made 17 appearances for Albacete Balompié in the 2023/2024 La Liga 2 season. Prior to that, he played for CD Tenerife from 2019 to 2023, contributing 11 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for the Spanish second-division club. During the 2018-19 season, he was loaned to Atlético Baleares, where he scored six goals and provided five assists in 41 appearances in Segunda División B.
shashoua began his professional career in England with Tottenham Hotspur, playing for their U18, U19, and U21 teams. Internationally, he represented England at the youth level, appearing for both the U17 and U18 squads, with a total of 16 appearances and four goals.
