Samsung’s New Call Screening Feature Coming to Galaxy Phones

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 to Gain Automatic Call Screening, ‍Mirroring Pixel Feature

Samsung is preparing to ⁤add ⁣automatic call screening to its One UI 8.5 software, a feature currently popularized by Google’s‌ pixel phones. Currently, Samsung’s Bixby Text‌ call ‍allows users‌ to manually ⁣request a caller’s intent via an AI assistant before answering, working⁢ for all incoming calls. ‌The new functionality will proactively detect and answer possibly‍ suspicious calls, displaying a text transcript of the ‌conversation to the user‍ without requiring them to press a button.

Unlike‌ Pixel’s automatic screening – limited to the US and focused on suspected spam,‍ spoofed numbers, or first-time callers – Samsung’s version⁢ appears broader, though ‍details on specific triggers haven’t been released. The manual Bixby Text Call option will remain ‍available for users who prefer‍ it.

Code discovered in⁣ the One ‌UI 8.5 leak indicates the AI⁣ assistant could automatically answer ⁤calls when Do Not Disturb mode is enabled and includes a language-selection option for the ⁤screening process. while the markets receiving the feature are⁣ currently unconfirmed,‌ Samsung’s rollout⁢ patterns suggest a ⁤potential ‌global launch, at least ⁢initially in English.

This feature is based on code analysis from an APK teardown, meaning its final implementation and release are not guaranteed.
