Samsung rolls out second October update for Galaxy S26 and foldables
Samsung is rolling out a second update for the Galaxy S26 lineup and recent foldable devices, following the initial October security patch deployment, according to reports.
The 700 MB Secondary Rollout
The new firmware arrives closely on the heels of major system upgrades and standard monthly patches, carrying a download size of approximately 700 megabytes. While the changelogs distributed by the manufacturer list standard stability improvements, the secondary release addresses specific performance maintenance across high-end hardware without introducing a new security patch level.
Samsung Rolls Out October Updates to S26 and Z Series
The secondary October rollout targets the flagship Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, alongside the Galaxy S26 FE. The deployment also reaches the current foldable generation, covering the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Regional build numbers reflect this targeted distribution. In South Korea, the Galaxy S26 series receives firmware ending in build BZJB with a download package of roughly 580 MB, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 models obtain version AZJ8 at approximately 690 MB, according to Samsung Magazine. Concurrently, other regional variants receive distinct builds, such as the European Galaxy A57 update designated as version A5763XXS63ZJ2 at 370 MB.
Hardware Constraints Exclude Galaxy S22 Series from Upgrades
Hardware constraints continue to define feature accessibility across the lineup. Older hardware tiers such as the Galaxy S22 series remain excluded from the upgrade path entirely, slated instead for quarterly security support under legacy manufacturer policies.

Checking for the New Firmware Package
Users can check for the availability of the secondary package by going to Settings, selecting Software Update, and choosing Check for Updates. Samsung has not issued an official advisory detailing whether the 700 MB package directly resolves installation blocks encountered following factory resets on select Ultra models, leaving device owners to monitor system behavior post-installation.
