Samsung One UI 9 Privacy Alerts: How AI Protects Your Galaxy Device
Samsung has officially launched the global distribution of One UI 9, its new Android 17-based operating system update, bringing advanced on-device artificial intelligence tools, enhanced security monitoring, and new multitasking capabilities directly to flagship mobile devices and tablets. According to xataka.com.mx, the update first reached users in Mexico on devices including the Galaxy S26, S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra following an initial worldwide deployment. One UI 9 has already started arriving on Galaxy cell phones in Mexico, with the first Samsung cell phones to receive it in the country being the Galaxy S26, S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, the flagship family of Samsung Galaxy cell phones.
One UI 9 Introduces AI-Powered Privacy Alerts
One UI 9 introduces AI-powered Privacy Alerts designed to monitor background application behavior without requiring third-party security software. Privacy Alerts detects risks to your privacy using AI, and also tells you if there are attempts to access unnecessary permissions. Samsung confirmed the availability of the AI-enhanced Privacy Alerts for 22 Galaxy devices belonging to the S, Z, and Tab families. The AI-enhanced Privacy Alerts are not contemplated for the Galaxy A line, the Galaxy M family, or certain models prior to 2023.
Complementing the privacy monitoring, xataka.com reported that the operating system includes a Secure Lock function. When activated via the quick settings panel, Secure Lock disables biometric authentication and requires a PIN, password, or pattern to wake the device, preventing unauthorized access. The system also features Security Brief updates for malware tracking and expanded Scam Detection tools for fraudulent calls across supported markets. Scam Detection is expanding, reaching new countries and in more languages.
Hardware Divides Across the Galaxy Ecosystem
The rollout distributes features unevenly across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem based on hardware capabilities required for local artificial intelligence processing. Xataka.com noted that while devices such as the Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, and recent Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip foldables receive the complete suite of artificial intelligence tools—including the context-aware Now Nudge suggestions and Creative Studio image generation—older models face restrictions. Beyond the keyboard, suggestions will now appear in conversation notifications and in a floating button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Interpreter also receives improvements such as the function to show translated conversations in thread views (Thread View), making them easier to follow. Document scanner also brings improvements for documents that are difficult to digitize, helping pages that are curved or folded digitize better.
Certain Galaxy Devices Miss Advanced AI Functions
Devices including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5 do not receive the advanced AI functions.

Download Sizes and Visual Refinements
The software package for the update measures slightly over 4 gigabytes and includes the September security patch alongside Android 17 framework improvements, as detailed by xataka.com.mx. Users install the update via over-the-air (OTA) downloads through the device settings menu. If you have one of the Galaxy S26 series cell phones, you can check for the update along the route Settings > Software update and there you must press the Check for updates button so that the system automatically shows you the update. It also allows us to diagnose and estimate the cost and time of a repair, as well as manage Samsung Care+.
