Samsung to Equip Galaxy S26 Ultra with Privacy-Focused Screen Technology
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Samsung is poised to substantially enhance the privacy features of its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra with a newly developed screen technology designed to restrict viewing angles. The innovation, dubbed “Privacy Display” and “Flex Magic Pixel,” aims to protect sensitive information from being viewed by onlookers, marking a notable step forward in mobile device security.
The new screen technology addresses growing concerns about visual privacy in public spaces and potential data breaches. By limiting visibility to users looking directly at the screen, Samsung intends to safeguard confidential data within apps like banking and messaging. this feature will be especially relevant for professionals handling sensitive information and individuals prioritizing personal privacy. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to launch alongside One UI 8.5 in January, with the new screen technology potentially setting a new standard for mobile privacy.
samsung’s “Privacy Display” function will allow automatic activation within specific applications, such as banking or messaging apps, and will also offer adjustable screen brightness for increased confidentiality. Complementing this is “Flex Magic Pixel” (also referred to as ”Flex Magic Panel”), a hardware-based solution that further restricts side-angle visibility.
Beyond privacy enhancements, the S26 Ultra will feature an M14-OLED panel utilizing chip-on-EDGE technology. This design removes the polarization filter, resulting in a thinner, brighter screen with an extended lifespan. In contrast, the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge models will be equipped with M13 panels measuring 6.27 and 6.66 inches respectively, while the S26 Ultra is anticipated to boast a larger 6.89-inch display incorporating the advanced M14 technology.
