Samsung Discontinues Galaxy S25 Edge amidst Slow Sales
Samsung has reportedly ceased production of the Galaxy S25 Edge, it’s first and, as it now appears, only ultra-thin flagship smartphone. A new report from South Korean publication News Pim indicates the company has informed employees it will discontinue the Galaxy Edge series, meaning there will be no Galaxy S26 Edge next year.
The decision comes less than six months after the S25 Edge’s debut in May. While the phone featured a titanium chassis and Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, it compromised on battery size and lacked a telephoto sensor to achieve its slim profile.
Sales figures reportedly drove the decision. As of August, the Galaxy S25 Edge had sold 1.31 million units – considerably fewer than the 8.28 million units of the standard Galaxy S25,5.05 million of the S25+, and 12.18 million of the S25 Ultra. The S25 Edge also carried a higher price tag than both the S25 and S25+ models.
Despite completing development of the S26 Edge, Samsung has indicated the series’ future is uncertain.
Samsung is expected to restructure its next flagship lineup. The standard Galaxy S26 is rumored to be replaced by a new Galaxy S26 Pro, offering upgraded specifications. The Galaxy S26+ is now expected to remain in the lineup, alongside the continuing Galaxy S26 ultra as the top-tier model.
