Seoul, South Korea – August 29, 2024 – Samsung Electronics has reported a meaningful increase in sales of its Galaxy S25 series smartphones, bolstered by the introduction of the new Galaxy S25 Edge model. Preliminary data indicates strong consumer demand, signaling a potential shift in Samsung’s product strategy.
As of June 30,2024,approximately 650,000 units of the galaxy S25 Edge were sold, despite its recent launch just weeks prior. Excluding the S25 Edge, total sales revenue reached $19.57 million, a notable 8.5 percent increase compared to the $18.02 million recorded during the same period last year. This growth is attributed to continued strong performance of the core S25 lineup.
The galaxy S25 edge is positioned as a more accessible option within the Galaxy S25 Series, and is slated for wider availability beginning in September 2024. This expansion marks the first time Samsung’s Galaxy S product line will feature five distinct models. The series currently includes the Galaxy S25,S25+,S25 Ultra, and the newly introduced S25 Edge.
Industry analysts at Counterpoint Research suggest Samsung is preparing for a considerable overhaul of its smartphone portfolio, potentially mirroring changes seen with the Galaxy S20 series in 2020. This restructuring comes as competition intensifies from brands like Apple and Xiaomi.
Sources within Samsung’s mobile division indicate the Galaxy S26, expected in early 2025, may be replaced by a new “Pro” model – the Galaxy S26 Pro. Similarly, the Galaxy S26 Edge is rumored to succeed the current Galaxy S26+ model. The flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to remain largely unchanged, alongside a continued offering of the Galaxy S26 FE (Fan Edition). While specific details regarding the Galaxy S26 Pro remain undisclosed, industry experts predict the Galaxy S26 Ultra will maintain its position as a leading smartphone in terms of features and performance. Samsung’s headquarters in Suwon, South Korea, is currently overseeing the advancement and testing of these next-generation devices.
