Samsung Cancels 2025 Developer Conference
Samsung has opted to forgo its annual Developer Conference (SDC) in 2025, marking a departure from its typical schedule and leaving developers anticipating new platform updates without a dedicated forum. The decision, confirmed by the absence of any event listing on the Samsung developer website, signals a shift in how the tech giant plans to engage with its developer community.
The cancellation impacts developers working across Samsung’s ecosystem – including those focused on Tizen, One UI, SmartThings, and galaxy AI – who traditionally rely on SDC for early access to tools, APIs, and roadmaps. While the company confirmed the 2024 conference date in August of the previous year, no similar declaration preceded 2025, fueling speculation about its status. The absence of an event suggests a recalibration of Samsung’s strategy for communicating with and supporting its developer base.
The reason behind the decision remains unclear. Samsung may feel that with the release of both One UI 7 and One UI 8, there isn’t substantial new material to present at a dedicated conference. alternatively, the company might potentially be prioritizing showcasing its consumer electronics and appliance software innovations at events like CES, where Samsung is planning its largest-ever exhibition space in 2026. Galaxy AI features are consistently highlighted at Unpacked events, further diminishing the need for a separate developer-focused presentation.
Samsung has been contacted for comment and a response is pending.
