Sam Hammington, a New Zealand-born Australian comedian known for his work in South Korea, revealed his son William is attracting attention from the Australian national ice hockey team, according to a report from KBS2’s “Immortal Songs” set to air February 14, 2026.

Hammington, who first appeared on the Korean comedy display “Gag Concert” in 2002 and was designated a special comedian by KBS in 2005, discussed his family’s life since appearing on the reality show “The Return of Superman” with MC Kim Jun-hyun. Kim Jun-hyun noted his surprise at seeing a foreigner proficiently typing in Korean using the “Hangeul” computer program, acknowledging Hammington’s early career in the Korean entertainment industry.

The conversation also touched on Hammington’s sons, William, born July 12, 2016, and Bentley, born November 8, 2017, who gained popularity as “nation’s babies” through their appearances on “The Return of Superman.” Hammington shared that William’s aptitude for ice hockey has led to interest from Australian national team scouts.

Hammington also expressed apprehension about performing on “Immortal Songs,” stating he would remove the video if his performance was poorly received, fearing lasting ridicule. He is scheduled to perform Fire Truck’s “Last Night Story,” and engaged in a playful rivalry with fellow cast member Sayuri before the performance.

Hammington and his family concluded their run on “The Return of Superman” in January 2022, after appearing on the show since 2016. During their time on the program, Hammington received the Top Excellence in Variety Award at the 2018 KBS Entertainment Awards and a Daesang at the 2019 KBS Entertainment Awards, shared with other fathers from the show.

Prior to his work on “The Return of Superman,” Hammington hosted the radio show “Drivetime with Annabelle Ambrose” from 2008 to 2012 and appeared on the reality-military show “Real Men.”
