The afternoon presents the most significant weather threat of the week, with the potential for severe storms bringing wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph to the New york metropolitan area.
Conditions are expected to improve dramatically on Friday morning as the Ryder cup officially begins. Temperatures will range from a low of 64 degrees to a high of 79 degrees. Any lingering showers should taper off by around 5 am, and patchy fog is forecast to burn off before 8 am. Winds are anticipated to be between 5-10 mph in the morning, increasing to 10-15 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday:
A 20 percent chance of rain remains in the forecast for Saturday, but overall conditions are expected to be partly sunny and ideal for competition. Temperatures will range from a low of 62 degrees to a high of 76 degrees. Winds will be calm in the morning, at 3 to 8 mph, and slightly heavier in the afternoon, at 7 to 12 mph. An isolated shower is absolutely possible during the afternoon.
Sunday:
Singles matches on Sunday are currently forecast to be played under good conditions. While there is a 50 percent chance of rain overnight, those showers are expected to clear out in the morning.A potential for spotty showers exists in the afternoon, but or else conditions should be ideal, with temperatures reaching 74 degrees and winds in the 10 to 15 mph range.
