Ryder cup Watch Party Kits Draw Criticism for High Prices
FARMINGDALE, NY – Fans hoping to host a Ryder Cup watch party through official merchandise may face a hefty bill, as the PGA of America is offering “Fan kits” adn “Ultimate Watch Party Kits” priced at $343 and $1,081 respectively. The kits, available through SeatGeek, include decorative items like napkins, coasters, and flags, but do not contain any food or beverages.
The price point has sparked criticism online, with many questioning the value of the packages. The ‘At Home Fan Kit’ includes a watercolor art print of Bethpage Black, 24 cocktail napkins, 12 coasters, 12 commemorative cups, 12 drink stirs & skewers, 12 flag toothpicks, 8 balloons, 1 hanging pennant, 1 table runner, and a Ryder Cup Guide Booklet. The ‘Ultimate Watch Party Kit’ expands on this with larger quantities of the same items, adding 20 table tents, 3 bar menus, 2 ‘quiet please’ paddles, 3 window clings, 1 wall flag, 1 hanging pennant, 1 pillowcase banner, and customizable digital promotional assets.
The $1,081 price tag for the Ultimate kit includes $105 in ticket processing fees. This approach contrasts with Augusta National’s ”Taste of the Masters” packages, introduced in 2021, which included both decorative items and actual food served at the tournament, with the most expensive option costing $185. The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, from September 23-28.
