The first incident occurred in the Leningrad region near the Gatchina district, where a diesel locomotive derailed saturday evening. Governor Alexander Drozdenka reported on Telegram that the train driver died after becoming trapped in the cab and later succumbing to injuries in an ambulance.
Shortly after, a second train derailed further south, carrying 15 empty tanks. No injuries were reported in that incident, according to a statement released by authorities.

Thes incidents are the latest in a series of disruptions to russia’s railway network, including previous derailments, explosions, and fires. Russian authorities have repeatedly blamed Ukraine for these events, alleging acts of sabotage.
ukrainian officials typically do not claim obligation for such attacks, but have stated that Russia utilizes its railway network to transport troops and fuel to support its forces in Ukraine.
