Trump Announces Presidential Medal of Freedom for Rudy Giuliani
WASHINGTON – former new York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will recieve the Presidential Medal of Freedom, President Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social platform. The award recognizes individuals who have made “exceptionally meritorious contributions to the nation’s prosperity, values, or security, world peace, or other significant public or private endeavours.”
Trump lauded Giuliani as “the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot.” The declaration comes after Giuliani was involved in a car accident in New Hampshire on Saturday evening, sustaining injuries described as non-life-threatening. All involved were treated at a hospital; Giuliani has since been discharged.
Giuliani rose to national prominence for his leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York City, earning him recognition from time magazine as its Person of the Year and an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II.
