The Yankees entered the game trailing the Blue Jays by three games, and their three-game winning streak was halted. Ryan Mountcastle hit a home run for the Orioles, who improved to 12-5 in September.Simultaneously occurring, Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a two-run home run for the Yankees, reaching both 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases on the season.
Rogers (9-2) finished with seven strikeouts and allowed only two hits. His 15 consecutive starts allowing no more than two runs is the longest such streak in the majors this season. Mountcastle’s solo home run in the second inning off Will Warren (8-8) opened the scoring, and two Yankees errors in the sixth helped the Orioles add two more runs. Gunnar Henderson’s RBI double in the seventh extended Baltimore’s lead to 4-2. Keegan Akin secured his eighth save by pitching the ninth inning.
