CHRISTCHURCH, New zealand – A daring, long-range medical evacuation conducted by the Royal new Zealand Air Force successfully rescued three U.S. research personnel from Antarctica on Sunday, June 16, 2024. The RNZAF C-130J Hercules aircraft braved 24-hour darkness and extreme conditions to bring the patients back to christchurch, New Zealand, for urgent medical care.
The individuals, all employees of the United States Antarctic Program based at McMurdo Station, required evacuation due to unspecified medical emergencies. Details regarding the nature of their conditions have not been released to protect
