Royal Jordanian and Air China Sign Partnership Deal to Boost Connectivity

August 26, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Royal Jordanian and Air China inked a memorandum of understanding in Beijing, setting the stage for direct non-stop flights between Amman and Beijing. Finalized during King Abdullah’s visit to China, the bilateral pact aims to fortify air connectivity, deepen commercial ties, and widen international travel corridors linking the Levant with East Asia.

Hub Integration and Codeshare Frameworks

The agreement lays down the groundwork for future codeshare arrangements and interline pacts. Leveraging their respective hubs in Amman and Beijing, both carriers intend to smooth out passenger transfers and provide more travel options.

Operational provisions span ground handling, air cargo logistics, and in-flight catering across both facilities. Royal Jordanian Vice Chairman and CEO Samer Majali framed the partnership as an important step for the airline’s strategy, securing its footprint in China and the Far East. Beijing operates as a crucial gateway to China and wider Asian markets, Majali noted, whereas Amman anchors connectivity across the Levant.

Leadership Alignment and Institutional Support

Air China leadership reinforced those priorities at the formal signing ceremony in the Chinese capital. Qu Guangji, president of China National Aviation Holding Corporation and Air China, pointed out that the two national carriers share substantial growth potential rooted in coordinated network development. Air China pledged full support to help Royal Jordanian launch direct non-stop services linking the two capitals.
