Quévy, Belgium – A seven-year-old boy was fatally attacked by a dog in Quévy, belgium on January 10, 2025. The incident occurred at a private residence, prompting a police inquiry and raising concerns about perilous dog breeds.
According to reports,a neighbor alerted the child’s father,who was shopping at the time,after hearing the boy’s cries. Upon returning home, the father discovered his son lying on the ground with severe injuries inflicted by a dog. the man then fatally stabbed the animal, described as consistently aggressive, twice.
Police arrived at the scene and utilized a Taser to further subdue the dog, which was afterward euthanized. Paramedics were unable to save the child, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have launched a manslaughter investigation. the dog owner was legally required to possess a permit to own a Rottweiler, a breed classified as perhaps dangerous under French regulations, which also apply in Belgium. The investigation will focus on whether the owner adhered to all legal requirements regarding the dog’s ownership, training, and containment.
