Rosalía Reveals on Jimmy Fallon That U2 Frontman Bono Wrote a Song Inspired by Her
Rosalía revealed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon that U2 frontman Bono wrote a song inspired by her titled “The Mirror Maker (Rosalía)” for the band’s upcoming album Carnaval de Luz, reaching out to her via actress Penélope Cruz to check the meaning of Spanish words.
How Bono Connected With Rosalía Through Penélope Cruz
The collaboration began when Bono decided to dedicate a track on U2’s upcoming record to the Spanish singer. Cruz advised him to contact Rosalía directly.
Rosalía told Jimmy Fallon that she received a direct message from Bono explaining that he had a new project and wanted her input on certain words in the lyrics. Rosalía recalled telling him she had never heard the word, adding, Look, I don’t know what to tell you, but feel free to invent your own language.
Release Details for Carnaval de Luz and The Mirror Maker
“The Mirror Maker (Rosalía)” is the fourth track on Carnaval de Luz, which marks U2’s first album of entirely new material in nine years. The record is scheduled for release on November 13.
Rolling Stone noted that Bono explained to Rolling Stone that the track breaks from the band’s typical songwriting tradition. Normally we write songs about people who are in jail or people who are dead,
Bono said. You know, deceased heroes or trying to get them out of jail. This time we are simply celebrating someone because she is an extraordinary artist.
Bono also pointed out that Rosalía’s 2025 album Lux explored similar conceptual ideas just before U2 arrived at them.

Rosalía Achieves Chart Success and Announces New Collaboration
The public revelations come as Rosalía closes out a busy touring and promotional schedule. Her album Lux debuted at No. 1 on five different Billboard charts simultaneously last November, and she received the Billboard Hall of Fame Award at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. During her recent tour, her viral “El Confesionario” segment featured celebrity guests including Chappell Roan, Karol G, and Marcello Hernández.
