Rockstar Games details GTA 6 radio lineup and podcast feature
Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release on November 19, 2026, bringing players back to the fictional state of Leonida with an expansive radio and podcast lineup, according to Rockstar Games.
The upcoming open-world title features the largest selection of in-game audio options in the franchise’s history, spanning genres from modern Latin and country to classic rock, metal, electronic, and hip-hop. Alongside traditional vehicle radio, the game introduces on-demand podcasts and portable listening options for players exploring on foot.
Expanding the Leonida Audio Experience
Rockstar Games detailed six initial radio stations ahead of the launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Cocoteo FM, hosted by El Martillo and La Gata, delivers bachata, merengue, dembow, and reggaeton. Back Country Radio serves the swamp and river regions with rebellious country music hosted by MW and Delta Dawne, alongside swamp weather reports and special segments featuring Mud Dog Mike. AfroBank FM pairs Burna Boy and Palms Trax to broadcast 20th-century African classics alongside Amapiano and 3-step tracks.
Additional stations include The Chamber 106.6 featuring Slayer members Kerry King and Tom Araya, Flash FM hosted by Robyn and Alex Consani with pop tracks by artists including Charli xcx and MGMT, and Dirty South Classics hosted by Miami rap figures Trick Daddy and Trina.
In a structural shift for the series, players can listen to podcasts and music on foot using in-game earphones linked to a virtual smartphone, expanding audio accessibility beyond vehicles. Additionally, Rockstar released a 34-track digital and physical soundtrack titled Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, available for pre-order on vinyl and CD.
Developers Research Florida to Build Game Setting
Speaking to the British fashion magazine LOVE, members of the development team—including studio leads, artists, and writers—shared production details behind the Florida-inspired setting. A small research unit drove through Miami and its surrounding areas, rented helicopters to fly over the Everglades, and consulted local residents, police, and gang members to establish the game’s atmosphere.
The narrative centers on Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, described by developers as a duo shaped by economic pressures and personal drive. Writers designed Lucia with an immigrant mother as an archetype, while Jason’s military background and entry into crime reflect survival in the virtual state. According to LOVE, the team utilized dedicated writers for background NPC dialogue, advertisements, and comedy bits to ensure the environment maintains continuous interaction.
Xbox Cloud Gaming Will Not Have Exclusive Rights
Starting in November, Microsoft’s updated cloud gaming tier limits Game Pass Ultimate users to 15 monthly hours of cloud play, with additional hours available for purchase. Rockstar Games has not announced any formal cloud streaming partnerships or a PC release date.
Ratings Boards Reveal Mature Content and Combat Mechanics
European and North American ratings boards have assigned adult classifications to the title, revealing details regarding its mature content. According to coverage cited by GameSpot and PC Gamer, the Pan-European Game Information organization briefly published a PEGI 18 rating detailing elements such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment physics tied to specific weapons, alongside an ESRB Mature 17+ rating in the United States.
The unlisted classification documents also pointed to mechanics involving illicit substances, allowing players to carry and consume cocaine through inventory menus, alongside expanded interactions within strip club environments. Rockstar Games has not issued a formal statement regarding the content descriptions published in the rating filings.
