Rimowa hosts Life Cycles pop-up event at Ginza Sony Park in Tokyo
Running from October 16 to October 18, 2026, the three-day “Life Cycles” pop-up event at Ginza Sony Park in Tokyo marks a public showcase for luggage maker RIMOWA, featuring its RE-CRAFTED circular program and an onsite Care Centre, as reported by RIMOWA.
Ginza Sony Park Hosts the Three-Day Exhibition
The exhibition sits at Ginza Sony Park in Tokyo’s Chuo ward, operating daily from 10:00 to 19:00 with final entry at 18:30, except for the opening day on October 16 when doors close at 18:00, according to rimowa.com. Admission is free, though visitors must add the brand’s LINE official account and complete an ID linkage to secure reservations for entry, guided tours, or the onsite Care Centre.
Circulation and Repair Programs Side by Side
The event brings the RE-CRAFTED circular program out of its usual online-only sales format for its first physical exhibition. Every day, 30 distinct used aluminum suitcases are displayed, and attendees can enter a purchase lottery for them through a dedicated page on site. These items retain the visual wear of their first life cycles while undergoing detailed functional repairs by artisans before passing to new owners.
Right beside the exhibition stands the Care Centre. Here, technical specialists examine visitor-owned aluminum luggage and perform maintenance to extend the lifespan of the pieces. The service is free, takes about 20 minutes per case, and generally returns the luggage to the owner on the same day, or ships it to their home if necessary.
Customization Services and Guided Tours
The pop-up also introduces the “Original Unique” customization service for the Original suitcase collection. Customers can select handles, wheels, and luggage tags from ten different colors to build personalized combinations. Limited leather luggage tags and special hot stamping are available at the event's gift shop for purchasers of tags and suitcases.
Small-group guided tours run five times daily, offering four Japanese sessions and one English session. Part of the LVMH group initiative known as Les Journées Particulières, these tours highlight the brand’s 128-year history, design philosophy, and the stories behind special exhibits gathered from around the world.
The brand has announced that the RE-CRAFTED initiative will tour the world following its stop at Ginza Sony Park, but has not yet named which cities will host the exhibition after its Tokyo debut.
