Motocross Season Kicks Off with Notable Riders and Emerging Talent Across Multiple classes
The motocross season is officially underway, featuring a diverse lineup of seasoned veterans and promising young talent across various age and skill divisions. Fans can anticipate exciting matchups as riders vie for top honors in classes ranging from Junior (25+) to the highly competitive 85cc and Mini Sr. divisions.
In the Junior (25+) Class, Chris Canning (Husqvarna), Scott Champion (Yamaha), and Heath Harrison (Husqvarna) are expected to be strong contenders. Notably absent from this class is Chad Reed, who withdrew from racing following his son Tate’s collarbone injury. The Senior (40+) division will see familiar faces such as Shane Kelleher (Honda), Kris Keefer (Triumph), Tim Weigand (KTM), and Robert Fitch (Yamaha) competing. Mike Brown will not be participating this year due to injuries sustained earlier in the summer.
Defending his title, John Boruff (Yamaha) enters the event with the #1 plate in the Senior (45+) class. Boruff is one of three riders carrying a #1 plate, joined by Brandon Haas in the vet (30+) division and Kyleigh Stallings in WMX.
The Masters (50+) class boasts a strong field, including Barry Carsten (Suzuki), Gregory Pamart (Kawasaki), kevin Cozadd (Yamaha), and Early May (Kawasaki).
The 85cc divisions are notably stacked, with Jaydin Smart (Yamaha) leading the charge, followed by sawyer Gieck (KTM), Carter Gray (GasGas), Nolan Cobb (KTM), Chase Brennan (Suzuki), Kade Nightingale (Husqvarna), Gavyn Welzien (GasGas), eidan Steinbrecher (KTM), and Anderson Waldele (KTM). Joey Vicari (KTM) is out of competition due to a leg injury sustained in practice.
Kannon Zabojnik (Cobra),a previous winner in 65cc classes,has moved up to the 85cc division and is considered a pre-race favorite after securing a moto win at the FIM Junior World Motocross Championship. He will face stiff competition from fellow Cobra rider and Team USA FIM Junior teammate Levi Geis, as well as Gavin Audet (KTM), Beckham Smith (KTM), Abshur Hall (Husqvarna), and female racer Raycin Kyler (Cobra).
The Mini Sr. divisions also promise intense racing.mini Sr. 1 (12-14) will feature Cooper Johnson (Yamaha),Easton Graves (Husqvarna),Maddox Temmerman (Husqvarna),Jackson Vick (KTM),Elliott Bowsher (GasGas),Tayce Morgan (Yamaha),Hudson vagele (KTM),and Cash Landry (Husqvarna). The Mini Sr. 2 (13-15) division will include many of these riders,with the addition of Hannah jamison to the roster.
