Revs Face Crucial Playoff Push at Chicago Fire FC

CHICAGO – The New England Revolution travel to Soldier Field on Saturday, September 6, 2025, for a pivotal matchup against Chicago Fire FC with playoff implications hanging in the balance. Following a 2-1 loss to The Crown, the Revs currently trail the Eastern Conference playoff places by nine points and sit eight points behind the 10th-place Fire.

New England’s postseason hopes hinge on closing the gap in the Eastern Conference standings, and a favorable result against Chicago is critical.The Revs and Fire will face each other twice in the final six games of the season, offering New England a direct chance to make up ground. Chicago (11-10-6,39 pts.) enters the contest just one point outside the final playoff spot, holding two games in hand on the New York Red Bulls.

The Revs will alternate between home and away fixtures, returning to Gillette Stadium next weekend to host Toronto FC. Historically, new England holds a 34-38-22 overall record against Chicago, but struggles on the road with a 9-25-12 away record. The last meeting at Soldier Field saw the Revs secure a 1-0 victory on May 4, 2024, while the last match at Gillette Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw on March 23, 2024.

On saturday night, the Revolution will be sporting the “Boston Tea Party” kit, which the club has announced will serve as its primary uniform again in 2025. The design commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, featuring red and white vertical waves representing the ripples in Boston Harbor created when revolutionaries dumped tea into the water. The navy jersey includes red shoulders with three white stripes,a nod to earlier Revolution jerseys,and is paired with navy shorts and socks featuring red and white striping.
