Framework‌ Laptop 16‌ Gains Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 ⁢Option, Ryzen AI‌ Processors

framework today announced upgrades to its Laptop ⁤16, ‍introducing Nvidia GeForce RTX ⁤5070 graphics and AMD⁣ Ryzen ⁢AI processors. This marks the first ‍time framework has offered an Nvidia GPU, expanding the laptop’s capabilities with access to technologies like DLSS and CUDA.The updated ⁢Laptop 16 also features the Ryzen AI⁢ 7⁤ 350‌ and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chips, ⁣previously released ⁤in the Laptop 13, benefiting from the Laptop 16’s⁢ larger heatsink and dual-fan cooling system.

The Ryzen AI series processors incorporate Zen ⁢5 cores and an upgraded ‌neural processing unit‌ (NPU),qualifying the‍ new⁣ Laptop 16 ⁣as a Microsoft Copilot+ PC. These PCs ‌unlock exclusive windows 11 AI and machine-learning features, ⁤including Recall, processed locally for enhanced privacy and speed.

Beyond the processor and GPU upgrades, the‌ Laptop 16 retains its modular design with two ⁣SO-DIMM⁤ slots supporting up ⁤to 96GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, ‌one M.2 2280 slot for the primary SSD, and a second M.2 2230 slot‍ for additional storage. Connectivity is provided by ⁢an AMD RZ717 Wi-Fi 7 card.

While the RTX 5070 expands gaming and professional application options, Framework notes the mobile⁤ version is equivalent to the desktop RTX 5060, featuring 8GB of‌ RAM. ‌This configuration may not⁣ achieve 4K ‌resolution in‌ demanding games or fully utilize ‌the laptop’s⁣ 1600p 165Hz display, and may limit performance in graphics-intensive professional workloads.
