Renée Fleming Cancels Kennedy Center Dates Over Trump Takeover

Teh Grammy-winning soprano ‌singer Renée Fleming has canceled her scheduled‌ performances ‍at the​ John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. she joins a growing number of musicians who have moved away from the institution, following President Donald Trump’s‍ involvement.

Fleming’s decision follows her resignation last year as Artistic Advisor-at-Large, a role she held for‌ nine years starting in 2016, after the ‌shake-ups at the Kennedy Center, including the⁣ departures of Chair David Rubenstein and President ​Deborah Rutter.She has a long history ‌with the center, having performed there 25 times “in various capacities,” according ⁣to the Kennedy⁣ Center’s website.

Fleming was scheduled to perform in May.
