red Dead Redemption Remastered Launches on Next-Gen Platforms

December 2, 2025 marks the arrival of a beautifully remastered Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Rockstar Games has delivered a revitalized experience of the critically acclaimed Western, bringing John Marston‘s story to a new generation of players.

This release isn’t just a port; it’s a comprehensive upgrade. Players will enjoy the complete original game, including the fan-favorite expansion Undead Nightmare, alongside all previously released bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.

Rockstar is rewarding existing fans. Owners of the digital version of Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or the original Nintendo Switch will receive a complimentary upgrade to the remastered edition on their respective new-generation consoles. Importantly, save data will be transferable, allowing players to seamlessly continue their adventures on the latest hardware.

The enhancements are substantial. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can expect a consistently smooth 60 frames per second, substantially improved image quality, full HDR support, and the option to play in stunning 4K resolution. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is equally remarkable, achieving 60fps at a high resolution, also wiht HDR support, and leveraging the console’s capabilities with DLSS technology and even mouse control compatibility.

The progress of this remaster was a collaborative effort between Rockstar Games, Double Eleven, and Cast Iron Games.Notably, mobile versions of the game are also available to Netflix subscribers through Netflix Games. The remastered edition is further accessible via the GTA+ Games Library and the PlayStation Plus Catalog, expanding its reach to a wider audience.

A key distinction from previous releases is the intentional focus on the single-player experience. This remaster does not include any online multiplayer components, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in John Marston’s compelling narrative.

The arrival of Red Dead Redemption on current-generation consoles and the Nintendo switch 2 represents a meaningful moment for the gaming community. It’s a chance to revisit – or experience for the first time – a landmark title in a modernized and visually striking form.
