Record $90M Lotto Max Jackpot Won in Alberta, Officials Say
Canada’s largest-ever lottery jackpot, a record-setting $90 million Lotto Max prize, was won in Alberta following Tuesday night’s draw, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, after the pot climbed following several winner-less draws.
Alberta Claims the Record-Breaking Pot
Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis announced Wednesday that the winning ticket for the $90 million prize was sold in Alberta. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis CEO Kandice Machado stated the winning numbers—08, 15, 19, 23, 26, 28 and 34, with a bonus 38—were purchased through Play Alberta. Machado described the development as an exciting morning for the province.
Play Alberta confirmed that the eight-figure win eclipses a previous record set in November 2022, marking the largest prize ever captured in Alberta and the first time an eight-figure jackpot has been won through the online platform. The win comes six months after lottery rules changed to allow the maximum Lotto Max prize to increase from $80 million to $90 million.
Officials Validate Ticket Before Announcing Canada's Largest Prize
While the prize stands as Canada’s largest, officials have not yet identified a single winner. Before the full announcement and payout can proceed, administrators must complete several administrative steps. These safeguards include validating the ticket, conducting an interview process, and preparing the necessary documentation over the coming weeks.
Secondary Prizes Distributed Across Ontario
While the grand prize headed west, players in Ontario also secured substantial secondary payouts during the same Tuesday draw.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation reported that multiple Ontario-based players claimed MaxMillion and MaxPlus prizes. Three separate $1 million prizes were sold in Brant County, Toronto, and online. Twelve MaxPlus tickets worth $100,000 each and five MaxPlus tickets worth $50,000 each were purchased at various locations throughout the province.
Prior to this draw, the largest prize claimed in Canada was an $80.4-million shared jackpot split by two friends in London, Ontario, announced in December.
