Realme has announced the upcoming March launch of its modern Realme 16 Pro series of smartphones, featuring the Pro and Pro+ models. A key component of the new line will be a 200MP LumaColor primary camera, intended to elevate mobile photography capabilities within the mid-range premium segment.

The company states the new smartphones are designed to bring professional-grade features to a wider audience. The 200MP LumaColor camera will be available on both the Realme 16 Pro+ and the standard Realme 16 Pro, and includes the only periscopic lens in its segment, offering optical zoom capabilities ranging from 3.5x to 10x, according to Realme.

The LumaColor camera has received TÜV Rheinland certification and is designed to capture natural skin tones with depth and lighting that deliver a high-quality finish to portraits. Realme has also incorporated its FullFocal portrait lens system and ProDepth bokeh algorithm, which aim to create a precise background blur while maintaining focus on the primary subject of an image.

Beyond hardware, the series will offer creative software options, including Vibe Master Mode, which provides 21 customized color tones, encompassing styles like Mood, Vintage, and Neon, to suit various aesthetic preferences. Artificial intelligence (AI) will also play a significant role in the photographic experience.

Realme’s AI Framing Master function will recognize scenes and automatically adjust zoom levels and framing, mimicking the approach of a professional photographer. The AI Photo Creator allows image editing through voice or text commands, while AI Quick Clip facilitates the creation of dynamic videos. AI Edit Genie enables modifications to image backgrounds or styles using simple instructions, while preserving natural facial features. AI LightMe integrates studio lighting effects directly into the camera interface.

The Realme 16 Pro series will also feature a large 7,000mAh battery and IP69 certification for increased durability, according to recent reports. The Realme 16 Pro boasts a 6.78” AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max processor.

Realme plans to reveal further details about the new Realme 16 Pro series in March, alongside the announcement of a new brand ambassador, as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the premium mid-range market.
