Madrid – Real Madrid demonstrated resilience and quality to come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday, maintaining their perfect start to the La Liga season. Manager Xabi Alonso acknowledged the hard-fought nature of the win,praising his team’s response to an early goal.
Mallorca stunned the home crowd with a 18th-minute opener courtesy of Vedat Muriqi.However, the lead proved short-lived as Real Madrid responded emphatically, turning the game on its head with two goals in speedy succession. Arda Güler and Vinícius Júnior found the net within a minute of each other, shifting the momentum firmly in Madrid’s favor.
The second half saw mallorca push for an equalizer, creating several nervy moments for the hosts. A potential handball by Güler, denying a clear scoring chance, added to the tension, but Madrid held firm.”Whenever we win, we are happy,” Alonso told Real Madrid TV. “The match had its moments. We reacted very well after Mallorca scored.”
