Real Club Jolaseta’s men’s and women’s first field hockey teams are preparing for pivotal matches this weekend. The men’s team will host Sardinero HC on Saturday, November 22nd at 1:00 PM, concluding the first round of competition in the division of Honor A.The women’s team will follow on Sunday, November 23rd at 11:00 AM, welcoming Valencia Club de Hockey for their Matchday 12 game in the Division of Honor B, with only two matches remaining in the first phase.
Both games present important opportunities for Jolaseta. The men aim to finish the first half of the season strongly against a fellow competitor, while the women seek to solidify their position amongst the league leaders before advancing to the second phase.
Men’s Team Prepares for Tight Contest
Returning to the Julio Solaun field after a month away, the men’s first team faces a challenging match against Sardinero HC. The game is expected to be closely contested between two teams currently positioned near the bottom of the Division of Honor A standings.
Head Coach Marc Salvatella stressed the importance of the game, stating it’s ”a very important match in terms of classification and everything,” emphasizing the need to end the first round on a positive note. He described Sardinero as “a safe, even and very competitive match,” adding they are “a more experienced team and they compete very well in these types of matches.”
Salvatella identified two key areas for betterment: maximizing performance during penalty corners, which he acknowledged as an ongoing focus, and effectively managing player advantages and disadvantages during what is anticipated to be a physically demanding game.He concluded, “We have to be able to display our game against an opponent who will have a rocky game.”
Women’s Team Eyes Top Spot Consolidation
The women’s first team will host Valencia hockey club on Sunday. With three games left in the first phase, Neguri’s team is focused on maintaining their position in the top half of the Division of honor B table and building momentum heading into the second phase.
Valencia is recognized as a consistently competitive team, and will provide a stern test for the Jolaseta squad, led by Coach Nacho Lecanda.
