Reading hospital Appoints Dr. Bernice Robinson-Bennett as Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Reading, PA – After a complete national search, Reading Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Bernice Robinson-Bennett, MD, as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & gynecology (OB/GYN). Dr. Robinson-Bennett had been serving as interim chair since April 2024 adn will officially begin her new role this month.
In this position,Dr. Robinson-Bennett will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the OB/GYN department, including the OB/GYN residency programme.She will collaborate with hospital and Tower Health executives to drive continuous enhancement in patient care, expand departmental services, and cultivate a team of highly skilled physician and nurse leaders. Additionally, she will take on the role of Physician Led for the Women and Children Service Line, extending her influence across Tower Health’s network of hospitals in Reading, Phoenixville, and Pottstown.
Dr. Robinson-Bennett’s commitment to Reading Hospital spans over two decades, beginning in 2008 as a gynecologic oncologist at Reading Hospital and the McGlinn Cancer Institute. She also holds the position of Assistant Professor with Drexel University College of Medicine (DUCOM) since 2021, and previously served as Vice President of the Medical Staff, beginning in August 2022. She remains actively involved in DUCOM’s medical education initiatives through participation in the Women in Medicine and Science Committee and the medical Student Admissions Committee.
A recognized expert in her field, Dr. Robinson-Bennett is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and contributes to the advancement of gynecologic oncology research as a peer reviewer for the Gynecologic Oncology Journal. She has authored numerous published, peer-reviewed articles.
Dr. Robinson-Bennett’s extensive training includes the Felix rutledge Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD anderson Cancer Center in Houston, a Master of Medical Science degree and completion of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and an OB/GYN residency completed at Reading Hospital in 2004.
