Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug, whose legal name is Xavier Landum, was taken into custody Thursday evening, according to official records from the Dallas Police Department. The arrest occurred as the artist was preparing for scheduled album release events.
Details of the Arrest
Landum, 27, was booked into the Dallas County Jail on charges related to marijuana possession and the unlawful possession of a firearm. Officers initiated a traffic stop on a pickup truck missing a front license plate on South Great Trinity Forest Way near US 175 at approximately 8:43 p.m.
During the stop, an officer inquired if Landum possessed a firearm. He confirmed he did and disclosed its location within the vehicle. A subsequent check revealed Landum’s alleged connection to a gang in Arlington, disqualifying him from legally owning a gun under Texas law. Texas law prohibits certain individuals, including those with gang affiliations, from possessing firearms
(Texas Penal Code, Section 46.04).
A small quantity of marijuana was also discovered during the search of the truck.
