PHILADELPHIA – Loyola University Chicago menS soccer begins a two-game road trip Saturday with a matchup against Saint Joseph’s at Sweeney Field.The Ramblers carry a perfect record against the hawks into the contest,having never suffered a loss in the series.
Loyola enters the game with a strong core of returning players – 17 from last season and seven starters who accounted for 21 of the team’s 24 goals and 59 of its 72 points.Head coach Steve Bode,in his fourth year,has bolstered the roster with nine newcomers,bringing his career record with the Ramblers to 26-16-18. This season marks the first without former Atlantic 10 opponent Massachusetts, which moved to the Mid-American Conference in July.
The series between Loyola Chicago and Saint Joseph’s began in 1997 with a 4-0 Ramblers victory. Their most recent meeting took place on November 2, 2024, resulting in a 4-1 Loyola win at home. That game saw the Ramblers record a season-high 25 shots, nine on target, with Hugo Urdiales leading with five. Ben Bischof scored twice (20′, 21′), while Urdiales (48′) and Matthew Andrusko (his first career goal) also found the back of the net on Senior Day.
Assistant coach Ricardo Pinto has returned to the staff, joined by former professional player Kervin Kenton as an assistant coach.
